We hope you are staying healthy.
The Farmers’ Market Board has met a couple of times since our last official Board Meeting at Perkins regarding the Corona Virus through video conferencing.
First Covenant Church is closed until 04/30, so our vendor meeting is cancelled. We were looking forward to seeing you all, but that will not happen.
We were supposed to meet last night, but then the Helena chamber of Commerce sent out an e-mail announcing a phone call town hall put on by Governor Bullock, so rescheduled for this evening. Myself and a few other Board members listened in and I asked what Governor Bullock thought of having a Farmers’ Market in these trying times and his thoughts on perhaps opening up on a limited basis. His (paraphrased) answer was if we were to open, he would suggest only offer the opening to food or produce vendors. Our vendors could take precautions and be instructed, but how would you control the crowd? The crowd is huge.
The governor is taking a look at this situation on a bi-weekly basis and we will be informed about every 2 weeks what the current outlook is and how long social distancing will be in effect. We expect we will not have our opening day on 04/25 as planned.
For reserved vendors who have sent in their down payment or full payment to get it in before 04/01, be aware that none of those monies have been deposited. If you have not sent in your down payment or full payment. Don’t send it in until we have an action plan on when Farmers’ Market will open.
Our next Board meeting is set for 04/15. We will be in touch with all of you more often than not as we figure this out to keep everyone healthy.
We miss seeing you all. Be well. Be Safe.
